Episode 5 - Sam Sullivan - Making A Difference Through Disability
Sam Sullivan is a politician, community leader and advocate for the disabled and disenfranchised of the city and the country.
Even though Sullivan became paralyzed after breaking his neck in a skiing accident at age 19, he’s been a major force in Vancouver politics and advocacy over the last 30 years.
Sam has been an MLA for Vancouver-False Creek, as well as the 38th Mayor of Vancouver and a Vancouver City Councilman for a number of years. He’s currently President of the Global Civic Policy Society, of which he was the founder.
He’s been inducted into the Order Of Canada, the nation's highest civilian award for community achievement in recognition of his tireless work with The Sam Sullivan Disability Foundation, improving the lives of those with significant disabilities.
Innovative and creative, Sam has started numerous non-profits that have benefited the disabled of our city.
